FROM TOUCHDOWN

It's been a while since i've posted anything and i'm wondering why. I guess i just needed some sort of sabbatical. Well.. i'm now on tour again and it's really been a great tour so far and i have many things to share.

I landed in Cologne on the 29th of October. I was originally scheduled to be in Germany on the 27th but was preoccupied at the time with fighting away the Swine flu that i had recently acquired, God only knows how. So, long story short, i arrived in Germany hobbling on one leg with about 20% of the energy it takes to make the human body function. But nevertheless, at this point i have landed safely and just glad to be in the general area of where my concert is that night and not worrying about having to cancel completely.
The day was eventful. As sick i was, i was blessed to meet up with the guys from a band called "Kutless". We would be traveling for the next 5 or so days together. Spanning mid-western Germany to Zurich, Switzerland and back again. To sum it up: A really great time with really great guys playing some really great shows and festivals together. Lot's and lot's of fun.

So we arrived at the venue of the first show of the third tour of the year 2009. All was calm. We met everyone and said our pleasant hello's. We immediately were shown to our rooms and it couldn't have been any sooner before i was ready to crumble into bread crumbs on the floor. As the key was placed in my hand my body responded with some kind of placebo effect and therefore jolted into action towards the general direction of this evenings sleeping arrangements. The best i can remember it was with one fluid movement that the door was opened, closed and my head resting upon a quite comfortable down pillow that smelt freshly laundered. I slept like a baby in an incubator for about three and a half hours almost surrendering sound check.
Sound Check went smoothly. Dinner was nice. There were people lining up at the door. "Kutless" was the main event of the evening. I was in the middle of the music sandwich scheduled to play second following a German opener who powered through many power chords to reach the other side of their allotted Forty minutes. It was my go. It was to my surprise that i was mobile at this moment. I spent most of the day wondering if anything but ugly and offensively colored mucus would make it's way out of my throat and into the air. To this day i don't know how it happened, but i was able to muster up enough strength to rock those 700+ people's world. It was an immediate connection. Instant singalong and clap. The crowd was just hungry. That's a feeling that you just can't explain. I exited the stage only to be pulled back up on stage for one more song. As i was finished, i just thought to myself again, " how in the world did that just happen?"
Once again my head hit the pillow almost immediately following the show. There was only one place to run. One place to hide. My bed. Good night everyone. Unless of course you are reading this in the morning or the mid-day. Perhaps the afternoon. In any case, farewell until the next entry.
